Kansas City Streetcar
As a member of the Quality Control Team, Premier Engineering Consultants provided construction phase services on the Kansas City Street Car project. Our Services include material testing, construction inspection to ensure conformance to plans and specification and overall construction management of the project. The first phase of this project was completed in 2015.
The Streetcar alignment is approximately 2 miles long (from the northern terminus to the southern terminus) or a total of approximately 3.9 track miles. An additional section of non-revenue service trackway would extend from the northern terminus at 3rd Street and Grand Boulevard to one of the three vehicles.
Construction of the two-mile, north-south KC Downtown Streetcar starter line started in May 2014 and reached substantial completion in December 2015. Prior to May 2014, there were approximately 8 months of private utility relocation work. This involved multiple utilities and companies working together to relocate services under the future track bed maintenance facility sites under consideration. Premier engineering participated in all the coordination effort leading to the successful completion of the project.
